“Gound Thoughts” (‘grondgedachten’) is an installation reflecting on the rapid expansion of infrastructure, commercial development, and the changing ownership of land. Set within a rural landscape, the work questions how long natural and agricultural spaces can survive under the pressure of urban growth and economic interests.
The installation consists of a large advertising or construction sign placed in a meadow beside a farm, suggesting the arrival of a new shopping center. By introducing this disruptive commercial language into a quiet countryside environment, the work creates a sense of tension and urgency. It confronts viewers with the possible transformation of the landscape and invites reflection on land ownership, sustainability, and humanity’s growing impact on nature.
